It has a beautiful world design and the dialogue is witty. This is a great game if you like god-like games. I definitely recommend this and can't wait to play some more.. It's a nice solo-RTS game with a great work on each scenario of the campaign. Once you setup your economy (growing fruits, feeding animals and selling them), there are various ways to achieve every objective, by using your special powers or sending a formation of soldiers.Every aspect of the game stays simple. Don't expect a huge technology tree, just a few options. The same goes for creatures and units. But everything works together and provide a good experience.On the other hand, the special powers got quite a lot of work, so you will be able to put monsters in a cage waiting to be killed, or expulse them from the islands with an explosion.I really enjoy how each scenario is completely different from the others, and I'm glad to discover new ways to use the gameplay even towards the end of the game.On the bad side, there is no save option mid game, so you will have to play several hours straight to complete each scenario (the game saves at the end of each scenario, and let you replay any previously completed scenario).The overall pacing of the game is slow, but if you liked playing a Starcraft or Age of Empire map all by yourself, you will enjoy it.ConclusionDespite several crucial problems, I consider that this game is a true hidden gem so I recommend it.. First Impressions:I have to say, for an early access game, it's an incredibly solid experience. It's essentially a strategic god-like game...that is, you can place structures and cast spells/enact powers that can both aid your minions and destroy pests and other nasty invaders. The different structures and how they chain together can take some getting used to, but I was able to figure it out after a few playthrus on the first level. The game eventually introduces a wave system and researching the appropriate tech will allow you to see farther into the future. The one major flaw with this little game is the fact that you are unable to save it whenever you want, you must wait until the end of each level until it does so automatically for you. As some levels can be quite time consuming you therefore have to make sure that you have enough time ahead of you to complete, or else it's start all over again. Apart from that it's a fairly testing and interesting game as you get into it, nothing spectacular but worth the outlay if like me you can buy it on sale, Certainly worth the £1.29 I paid for it .. ONLY FIRST IMPRESSIONS! Keep that in mind, I didn't play it for long yet. But I'm writing it, as I don't know if I will play it again.It's a small, little (under a gig) game. It's a bit like Populous 3 and Black & White in some aspects, but it seems inferior to both those titles sadly.Amazingly, there are no modern-era alternatives and the game can be a little fun during a sale. Up to 8 € is maybe worth it, but not much more than that.Graphics are cartoony and ok-ish. Not impressive, or even better than Black & White, but it's much of a lesser game, made by a smaller low-budget team.There is absolutely no voice acting, only text messages, they are not very entertaining, more like bland even.Still, the core of the game is not bad. Build simple economy, use PSI powers (magic basically). Seems familliar?Well, it should. It's meant to be a smaller god game for kids. It delivers that. Still, don't have too high expectations of it or you will be burned.5,5/10, maybe a bit generous, as I didn't play it for too long yet. And it didn't draw me to try. I might update the review at a later date.It's lacking. But I can't straight out say it's not worth getting it on sale (like I did).. I love this game so much. It's a mixture of Black and White (controlling the world) and Spore (visuals and especially the monsters) And this is a very good mixture. You cannot save the game which I find odd? But that's the the only negative aspect I've found. I really hope they might change that in the future. Definitely give it a try. It's just so entertaining and especially funny! The Mims are little joksters.. Feels incomplete. Also feels less like a "god game" and more like an RTS. I guess those two, more often than not, go hand-in-hand. I guess I'm just not a fan of this one.. I waited for quite some time to get the occasion to play The Mims, and now when I finally won a cdkey for it I could get into the game and verify if the game's what I expected.The game is great and I like it how so many of my decision are connected. Taking care of our mims and managing to keep my base's parameters positive takes a lot of effort, but seeing my base expand is a nice reward for that. I really like how the story is expanding and how it's presented to the player, I wish The Mims will have the voice acting added to the cutscenes to further fulfil the presentation.I hope the devs will further develop the game. I already spent some time in the game and I can tell that I would totally buy the game if I knew how fun it is. I would totally go for buying some dlc if it were adding some more content and maybe another story part. I really hope The Mims Beginning is realy a beginning of some game series rather than finishing the development on only this single title.. Fun, cute and funny. And cheap. And not SO simple which is good.
